First Aid and CPR are combined into one class with full six hour course credit. Both are good for two years.

Sensitivity to Aging
This class can be adjusted to a 2 hour to 4 hour learning experience. The class includes a hands-on look at some of the physical and mental changes that take place as a person ages. We look at positive approaches for interactions with Senior Adults and help participants to gain an understanding and appreciation for Elders. This class is recommended for any professional or person who interacts with senior adults or may be caring for a senior adult.
Grand-Parent: Raising Children Today
This class is a 2 hour learning experience for individuals who are raising their grandchildren. The class helps grandparents to understand how to better interact with children in today’s society. We provide the surrogate parents with the proper tools to guide, discipline, and teach their grandchildren in a developmentally appropriate manner.
Lifelong Developmentally Appropriate Practice
This class is a 2 hour learning experience. The class helps prepare individuals to work with young children and in an intergenerational setting. We explore the do’s and don’ts of developmentally appropriate practice and lesson planning. Participants are provided with numerous resources for appropriate activities and planned experiences that are beneficial for both end of the age spectrum. This class is recommended for any student, professional or paraprofessional in the fields of early childhood education or intergenerational studies.
Multiculturalism/Diversity/Intergenerational Through Picture Books
This is a 2 hour to a 4 hour learning experience. This class has participants explore and reflect upon a variety of biases and how to teach without them. We use picture books as a means to incorporate a variety of cultures and individual differences. Participants will have the opportunity to look at a variety of projects and be provided with many resources and tools to employee in their own programs or classroom. This class is recommended for any student, professional or paraprofessional in the fields of early childhood education or intergenerational studies.
Dealing with Difficult Child/Adult Interactions
This is a 2 hour learning experience. This class helps participants learn about the many challenges they may face when interacting with children and/or senior adults. We provide students with the tools to learn to re-direct, avoid, and handle a variety of difficult behaviors. Participants will experience scenario situations and learn how to handle their own stress in dealing with day to day challenges. A Lifetime of Multiple Intelligences
This is a 2 hour learning experience. This class allows participants to explore the different Multiple Intelligences (Howard Gardner) and how to teach to the intelligences at any age. We look at how everyone learns in a different manner and provide students with the resources and tools to teach in a variety of natural ways. This class is recommended for any student, professional or paraprofessional in the fields of early childhood education or intergenerational studies.
Professionalism in the Early Childhood/Intergenerational Workplace
This is a 2 hour learning experience. The class helps participants learn to maintain professionalism in an early childhood and/or intergenerational setting. We use the NAEYC code of ethics as a guide to explore potential situations and how to avoid challenges with parents/clients and co-workers. This class is recommended for any student, professional or paraprofessional in the fields of early childhood education or intergenerational studies.
Shaken Baby Syndrome
This is a 2 hour learning experience. This class helps participants to learn about how to be aware of the signs of shaken baby syndrome, the potential hazards of head trauma in infant care and how to teach prevent it from happening. This class is recommended for any student, professional or paraprofessional in the fields of early childhood education or intergenerational studies, as well as for any parent.
Other Services offered:
Consultation-
The Macklin Institute can off expert ongoing consultation for individuals or businesses looking to establish an early childhood, school age or intergenerational program or partnership. These services are offered on a contractual basis which can be for a specified and negotiated period of time.
Personalized Trainings-
The Macklin Institute team can develop workshops and in service programs to meet the specific needs of any early childhood, school age or intergenerational program.
Fees:
2 hour trainings are $200.00 per hour for first 5 participants and an additional $10 per each additional participant. If the training is more than 50 miles or an overnight stay is necessary additional fees will be applied.
4 hour trainings are $400.00 per hour for 5 participants and an additional $10 per each additional participant. If the training is more than 50 miles or an overnight stay is necessary additional fees will be applied.
Ohio Safety Trainings:
Child Abuse and Neglect Recognition and Prevention is $30 (refresher) or $40 (full) per participant, Common Childhood Illness Recognition and Prevention is $30 (refresher) or $40 (full) per participant, and First Aid/CPR is $60 per participant.
